Ian Vernon originally trained in film & photography at art college. He went on to become
a successful advertising/fashion photographer, working for advertising agencies,
on assignments around the world.
He always wanted to follow his first love of directing and writing.
Over the years that followed, he studied acting; Method, Stella Adler, and Meisner, in the UK and LA.
This allowed him a better understanding of how to direct an actor to achieve their best performance on the screen...
Ian wrote & directed ACTORS, a TV pilot/feature film, and 9 short films (four shot in Los Angeles).
He wrote & directed the black comedy feature REBELS WITHOUT A CLUE,
which screened at Cannes film festival - Palais Marche.
The film then screened at major international film festivals around the world, winning
BEST SOUNDTRACK, CINEMATOGRAPHY, SUPPORTING ACTOR at Ibiza International Film Festival.
It was NOMINATED BEST UK FEATURE at Raindance Film Festival - London.
His 2nd feature was a northern comedy BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN ROCHDALE.
About a group of women that set-up a co-operative brothel...with no sex.
It had its world première at the prestigious Palm Beach International Festival,
winning the AUDIENCE FAVOURITE AWARD.
It also went on to win; BEST FOREIGN FILM at San Diego Film Festival,
BEST FEATURE at London Independent Film Festival.
It was released in the UK under the title BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN THE NORTH.
It has since became a northern cult comedy classic.
THE WAR I KNEW - a World War II feature drama about a lost soldier on D-Day -
was invited to première at Palm Beach International Film Festival.
It also screened at Canada International Film Festival - winning the RISING STAR AWARD.
And the London Independent Film Festival.
It is available in over 9 countries under various titles.
His recent feature - BROOD PARASITE - is a modern-day supernatural thriller
Ian has coached screen acting workshops for over 24 years in the UK and Los Angeles.
In this time, he has developed an individual real-world "method" of teaching.
His individual method is different from the vast majority of other acting schools.
He coaches in a technical, practical way, with precise feed-back, and direction.
Through his productions in LA & UK, working with actors in real world situations
on set - he has built his own methodology in practical screen acting.
